Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer (0-1) opened up the 2018 season with a 2-0 defeat to Finger Lakes (1-1) in the first day of the East Coast Cup, hosted by Tompkins Cortland. 

In a rematch of the 2017 sub-regional match that ended the Vikings season, today's match was highly competitive with the Lakers earning the win on two second half goals. 

The Vikings goalkeeper, Nathan Langlois (Colonie/Colonie) recorded four saves in the loss with Finger Lakes outshooting Hudson Valley 7-5. Ryan Willis (Petersburgh/Berlin) and Luke Mara (Delmar/Bethlehem) each recorded one shot on goal and Cetin Karaca (Guilderland/Guilderland) andWickson Joseph (Hudson/Hudson) combined for three shots. 

Dylan Wood and Felipe Gonzalez scored both of the goals for Finger Lakes and their keeper Travis Cotton recorded a pair of saves to earn the win. 

The men's soccer team is back in action tomorrow, August 26 for the final day of the East Coast Cup at Tompkins Cortland. The Vikings will play the host Panthers at 5:30 p.m.
