Lacrosse Garners All-Conference Accolades

Five individuals from the Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse program were recently recognized to the Mountain Valley Conference teams for their individual performances throughout the 2023 conference season.
Matt Calicchia and Jack Alvey were named to the all-conference team at the attack position. The duo combined for 92 total points on the year and were the team's statistical leaders in goals (Alvey) and points (Calicchia). Calicchia started in all 11 games for and scored 19 goals and dished out 37 assists for a team-high 56 points. Calicchia concluded his two-year career with 106 points, which placed him fourth on the program's all-time points list. Calicchia also set the program record with 60 career assists over his 22 games played thanks to a single season record of 37 assists he accumulated this year. Matt's 46 career goals place him just outside of the program's top-10 rankings.
Alvey led the team with 27 goals scored and added nine assists for 36 total points. Alvey's 46 career goals ties him with Calicchia, just outside the top-10 list of the all-time goal scorers in program history.
Gavin Breen and Cole Duncan were recognized as all-conference midfielders by the conference coaches. Breen had a consistent season as he scored 13 goals and tallied 11 assists. For his career, he accumulated 50 total points on 26 goals and 24 assists. Duncan was a tremendous freshman who helped run the offense at times this season. Duncan finished the year with 25 goals, seven assists and 32 points. His 25 goals were third-best on the team and his 32 points place him fourth. Duncan came out of the gate flying as he accumulated 10 goals and one assist in the first two games of the season and helped the Vikings jump out to a quick 2-0 start to the season.
Nicholas Rogers earned all-conference defensive accolades as he played in all 11 games during his first season with the Vikings. He accumulated 31 ground balls and nine caused turnovers on the year and should be one of the Region's better defenders next season.
