Men's Lacrosse Wins Big at Mohawk Valley

The Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse program earned a dominating Region 3 road win 23-1 over Mohawk Valley on Wednesday evening in Utica, NY.

Leading the way for the Vikings was sophomore Jack Alvey, who finished with a game-high six goals and added two assists for eight total points. Matthew Calicchia, Hudson Valley's leading points scorer, added seven more points to his season total after scoring a hat trick and dished out dour assists.

Bill DiDonna also dished out four assists in the game and scored one goal on six shots (five on goal). Cole Duncan is the third Vikings member to record a hat trick in the game with three goals on four shots on goal.

In goal, Alex Ely earned the win after playing the first 30 minutes of the game and recorded two saves. Matthew Trippany relieved Ely for 25 minutes in the second half and Willis Bickford closed out the game in goal for the final five minutes and allowed the Hawks lone goal with one minute remaining in the game.

Up next for the Vikings lacrosse program is a road matchup with Onondaga in Syracuse, NY on Friday, April 7. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
