The Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse program earned a critical 14-8 home win over Sussex on Sunday afternoon at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley.

The Vikings, who ended its three-game losing skid, jumped out early on the Skylanders in the first quarter and never looked back as they led for the entire game. With less than 90 seconds into the game, the Vikings Bill DiDonna broke open the scoring with a goal at the 13:23 mark. DiDonna finished the game with four goals. Also, in the first, the Vikings current co-points leader, Cole Duncan added back-to-back goals and DiDonna closed out the quarter with his second goal of the game.

In the second quarter, Jack Alvey joined the scoring ranks as he found the back of the net twice in an eight-minute span. Duncan also scored his third goal of the game in the quarter, which ended with the Vikings holding on to a 7-4 lead at the halftime break.

In the fourth, the Vikings defense clamped down on the Skylanders as they outscored Sussex 7-4 in the second half and 3-1 in the third quarter. The second half featured multiple goals by DiDonna and Matthew Calicchia, who scored two goals and added one assist in the fourth quarter. Calicchia, the Vikings other co-points leader this season, finished the game with two goals and three assists.
