Three individuals from the Hudson Valley men's lacrosse program garnered recognition as members of the NJCAA Region 3 All-Region teams for the 2022 season.
Christopher MacDonald, Tyler Roxstrom and Guari Reyes were all named to the NJCAA Region 3 All-Region Third Team honors.
MacDonald, very deserving of a high all-region team selection, did everything on the field and was always tasked with covering the top attackman, with many of them finishing the game below their season points average. He played wings where he scooped up a lot of his ground balls and was able to make an impact in the clearing and transition game. MacDonald led the Region with 75 ground balls (4th in the NJCAA). He also finished the year with 29 caused turnovers, which ranks third in the NJCAA and second in the Region.
Roxstrom, a two-sport athlete, covered opponents second lead attackman in every game this season. He is a physical and intimidating player and led the nation with 32 caused turnovers. He also finished 10th in the Region with 39 ground balls. He made an impact every game and is deserving of consideration for an All-Region team.
Reyes, the captain of the team and leader, made pretty much every save he should have and every game made several that he shouldn't have. He is a natural goalkeeper as he made wowing saves in every game. He finished the year with 158 total saves, which ranked second in the Region, posting a 53 save percentage. At times, Reyes was the reason the Vikings were able to keep games close throughout the entire season. He has demonstrated that he is one of the best goalies in the region and is very deserving to be on an All-Region team.
In the first season since 2019, the Vikings had a successful year, which was highlighted by one of the toughest strength of schedules with six straight games against NJCAA programs ranked inside the weekly top-10 coaches' poll. After defeated No. 10 Herkimer 12-11 in double overtime, the Vikings earned a top-10 ranking as well.
