Lawlor's Career-High Leads Lacrosse in 17-4 Win

The Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse (3-3) brought an end to the season-high three-game losing streak today as the Vikings defeated Tompkins Cortland 17-4 at the Outdoor Athletic Center on the campus of Hudson Valley in Troy, NY. 

The Vikings were led by John Lawlor (Colonie/Colonie) as he finished with a career-high eight points. Lawlor scored three straight goals and added an assist in the first quarter to help the Vikings jump out to a quick 7-0 advantage over the Panthers. 

Hudson Valley's offense continued to run on all cylinders in the second quarter and went on a 7-1 run and took a 14-1 lead into halftime. Lawlor scored another two goals and two more assists in the second quarter to complete his record day of scoring eight points in the first half of a game.

Nathan Bruce (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) finished with five points and complimented Lawlor's right-side attack with three goals and two assists. Bruce kicked off the Vikings scoring flood gates with the first goal of the game. Bruce scored twice in the first seven minutes of the game to give Hudson Valley a quick 3-0 lead on Tompkins Cortland. 

Corbin Lafleur (East Greenbush/LaSalle Institute) finished with another multi-goal game as he tallied two goals and one assist in the Vikings win. Nicholas Malatesta (North Greenbush/Averill Park) and Darren Nagy (Saugerties/Saugerties) also scored two goals for Hudson Valley. 

Vikings keeper Trevor Ham (Kingston/Kingston) recorded 10 saves and collected three ground balls as he earned his third win of the season. 

The Vikings men's lacrosse program is back home this Friday as they welcome Monroe to Troy, NY. The game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
