Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse (9-3) closed out the 2018 regular season winning six straight games as the Vikings defeated Finger Lakes 17-3 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Vikings jumped out to a 5-1 lead at halftime and came out ready to score more in the second half as they outscored Finger Lakes 12-2 in the final 30 minutes of the game.

The NJCAA and Region 3 Player of the Week, Aaron Thorpe (Malta/Ballston Spa) has now scored four or more goals in six straight games after he added four goals and three assists in today's win over Finger Lakes. Mark Calicchia (Loudonville/Shaker) and brother Chris Calicchia (Loudonville/Shaker) combined to score seven goals and two assists, which included four goals and two assists in the third quarter when the Vikings scored eight unanswered goals to extend its lead to 13-1.

Trevor Ham (Kingston/Kingston) played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded five saves with eight shots on goal for his team high eighth win of the season.

The Vikings will now wait until the weekend to find out their opponent for the NJCAA Region 3 tournament. Currently, the standings indicate Tompkins-Cortland might be the Vikings first round matchup next Wednesday, April 25, but the final schedule will be released later this weekend.
