Men's Lacrosse Extends Win Streak to Four

Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse (7-3) have now won a season best four straight games and improved to 7-3 overall after defeating Brookdale 18-4 this afternoon at the Vikings Outdoor Athletic Complex.

The Vikings nearly reached 20 goals in consecutive days as they continued to score early and often as they have scored 44 goals in the last two games and 61 goals during their current four game win streak.

They Vikings were led by Aaron Thorpe (Malta/Ballston Spa) and Nathan Bruce (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) for the second straight game. Bruce scored a game-high five goals, which included the first goal of the game at the 14:22 mark in the opening quarter. Bruce continues to finish strong in games as he scored three of his five goals in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Thorpe earned a game-high six points on four goals and two assists. Thorpe continues to play at a high level this season for the Vikings. This week Thorpe has recorded 14 goals and nine assists for 23 points in the Vikings two wins this week.

Mark Calicchia (Loudonville/Shaker) added five points in the win with four goals and one assist. Calicchia put up a team-high 12 shots with seven shots on goal as he found the back of the net in each quarter of today's game.

The Vikings have a short rest before they are home again this Monday, April 16 as they welcome Broome to Troy, N.Y. The game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Vikings Outdoor Athletic Complex.
