Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse (5-3) won its second straight game this week after defeating Mercyhurst North East 7-5 on the road on Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings entered the second half trailing 4-2 before Hudson Valley turned up the defensive pressure, holding the Saints to just one goal in the final 30 minutes of the game. During that span, the Vikings outscored the Saints 5-1, led by sophomore Aaron Thorpe (Malta/Ballston Spa).

Thorpe scored or assisted on five of the Vikings seven goals, including three goals in the second half to help the Vikings comeback and secure the NJCAA Region 3 win. Nathan Bruce (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) added a pair of goals, scoring the Vikings first and last goals of the game.

In goal, Trevor Ham (Kingston/Kingston) earned the win for the Vikings and collected 10 saves as the Vikings last line of defense.

The Vikings are home this Wednesday, April 11 as they welcome Mohawk Valley to Troy, N.Y. The game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
