Men's Lacrosse Gets Back on Winning Path, Defeats Herkimer 10-6

Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse (4-3) ended its losing streak as the Vikings defeated Herkimer 10-6 on the road Wednesday afternoon in Herkimer, N.Y.

The Vikings and the Generals entered the second quarter tied at 2-2 and then Aaron Thorpe (Malta/Ballston Spa) and the Vikings opened up the scoring as they outscored Herkimer 5-1 during the next 15 minutes and entered halftime with a 7-3 advantage. Thorpe either scored or assisted on four of the Vikings five goals (3G, 1A) in the second quarter.

After the break, Hudson Valley and Herkimer each scored three goals apiece, proving the Vikings offensive surge in the second quarter to be the difference maker this afternoon.

Thorpe finished the day with four goals and two assists for a six total points. Nathan Bruce (Scotia/Scotia-Glenville) added three goals and Trae Dussault (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs) tallied a pair of goals for the Vikings as well, his first multi-goal game of his collegiate career.

The Vikings are back in action this Saturday, April 7 as they travel to play Mercyhurst North East at 3 p.m. The men's lacrosse program is not home against until Wednesday, April 11 when they welcome Mohawk Valley to Troy, N.Y.
