Men's Lacrosse Falls at Tompkins Cortland

Hudson Valley Community College men's lacrosse (3-2) faltered in the second half as the Vikings were defeated on the road 10-7 at Tompkins-Cortland on Wednesday afternoon.

The Vikings jumped out to an early lead as Mark Calicchia (Loudonville/Shaker) guided Hudson Valley to a 5-3 advantage at halftime. Calicchia finished with four goals on 12 shots, seven shots on goal and collected three ground balls.  

In the second half, Tompkins Cortland increased their defensive pressure and shutout the Vikings 3-0 in the third quarter, taking a 6-5 lead into the final quarter.

In the fourth, Calicchia found the back of the net twice in an attempt to keep pace with the Panthers but Tompkins Cortland outscored the Vikings 4-2 in the final quarter to secure the 10-7 win.

Trevor Ham (Kingston/Kingston) had a solid game in goal as he collected a season-high 16 saves and added three ground balls.

The Vikings are back in action this Saturday, Mar. 31 as they travel to play Monroe Community College at 2 p.m. The men's lacrosse program is not home against until Wednesday, April 11 when they welcome Mohawk Valley to Troy, N.Y.
