The No. 3 seed Hudson Valley Community College hockey team (12-11-2) lost to No. 2 Erie Community College (19-4-1) 6-3 in the first game of the National Tournament on Friday evening at SUNY Broome Community College.
The Vikings tied the game after Kyle Constanty (Beekmantown/Plattsburgh) scored in the opening minutes of the second period. The Kats responded with three goals at the end of the second, and two more in the third.
Constanty led the Vikings with two goals, and Troy Bennett (Mohonasen/Rotterdam) also scored in the loss. Goalie Nate Muller (Bellows Free Academy/Highgate, VT) recorded 41 saves for Hudson Valley.
The men play tomorrow against No. 1 Dakota College at Bottineau at 3 p.m.
