The Hudson Valley Community College hockey team (4-9-1) snapped a three-game losing streak after defeating Albany Club (2-6) 4-3 on Friday evening.
After a scoreless first period, the Vikings outscored the Great Danes in the second period 2-1. The score would remain the same for most of the third period until Troy Bennet (Mohonasen/Rotterdam) scored, which put the Vikings up by two with less than five minutes left in regulation. As time ticked away, the Great Danes answered with back-to-back goals in the final minutes to force overtime.
In overtime, Kyle Constanty (Beekmantown/Plattsburgh) scored the game-winner off an assist from Adam Hosmer (Westfield/Westfield). Hunter Craig (Thornton Academy/Saco, ME) and Evan Perkins (Brattleboro Union/Brattleboro, VT) were the other two Vikings who scored in the win.
The men are off for winter break until January 15 when they travel to Erie for a two-game series.
