Golf Wins Second Straight Conference Championship; Hampson Player of the Year

The Hudson Valley Community College men's golf program placed second at the Herkimer Invitational and in the process won its second consecutive Mountain Valley Conference championship on Saturday afternoon in Utica, NY.
The men's program posted a team-best score of 320 and finished one-stroke behind Niagara, who has been one of the more dominant golf programs this season. The second-place finish, placed them as the top-program for the Mountain Valley Conference for the second straight year under second-year head coach Dennis McCormick and co-head coach Brendan Kelly. Owen Hampson led the way for the Vikings as he posted a 77 for the 18-hole tournament and was named the conference player of the year following his season-best round.
Cameron France also shot a season-best 78 on the day and placed second among the Vikings team. Joshua Carr and Jonathan Reynolds rounds out the team scoring as they scored an 80 and 85, respectively.
Matthew Valoze tallied an 89 with Josiah Howard posted a 90 and Nevin Wilkie participated as an individual and finished the day with a 97.
The golf team returns to action tomorrow as they travel to participate in the Onondaga Invitational at the Sunset Ridge Golf Course in Syracuse, NY.
