Golf Placed Third at HVCC Invitational

The Hudson Valley Community College golf program hosted the Vikings Golf Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Normanside Country Club, earning a third-place finish, for their second consecutive match.

The Vikings posted a final team score of 344, which is calculated by the accumulation of the best four individual scores over the 18-holes played. Niagara played extremely well, winning the tournament with a final score of 328. Jefferson placed second, three strokes ahead of the Vikings with a score of 341.

Leading the way for Hudson Valley was Jonathan Reynolds, who finished with an 83. Joshua Carr posted a score of 85 and Cameron France and Owen Hampson rounds out the team scoring as they both recorded an 88 on the day.

Josiah Howard and Nevin Wilkie played well and recorded scores of 95 and 99 respectively. Matthew Valoze participated as an individual and totaled a 91, his best score of the season to date.

The golf team returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, April 20th as they travel to compete in the SUNY Adirondack Invitational at Brookhaven GC with Hudson Valley set to tee off beginning at 12:28 p.m.
