The Hudson Valley Community College men's and women's golf program are currently sitting in third place following the first day of the 2023 NJCAA Region 3 Golf Championships at the Glen Oak Golf Club in East Amherst, NY.

Lane Jenkins played extremely well and sits tied atop the leaderboard after the first 18-holes of the 36-hole tournament. Jenkins shot a 1-over 71as he heads into the final day of the championships tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16. Jenkins is tied with Herkimer's Evan Crouse and the pair holds a five-stroke lead over the next set of competitors.

Sam Fair is currently in seventh place after day one as he finished the round with an 80 and is on pace to finish among the top-15 All-Region competitors. Markham Daly finished the day with an 88 and Devin Gilbert posted a 93 to round out the team score of 332.

The team is six-strokes behind Niagara (326) for the team lead and just one-stroke out of second place, behind Jefferson (331).

In the women's division, Sierra Yetto shot her best score of the year, finishing the toughest course she has played on this year with a 110. Yetto trails the third-place competitor by 15 strokes.

The second day of the Region 3 Championships is set to tee off tomorrow, Tuesday, May 16 at 8:30 AM.
