Men's Golf Places Fifth at Onondaga Invitational

Hudson Valley Community College men's golf kicked off its 2018 season on Saturday as they participated in and finished fifth at the Onondaga Invitational held at Timber Banks Golf Club.

The weather conditions were not ideal but the Vikings played the course well, placing fifth overall out of 11 teams with a final team score of 341. Nick Schrowang (Catskill/Catskill) earned the Vikings best finish, tying for ninth overall with a score of 82.

Cole Stannard (Coxsackie/Coxsackie-Athens) finished the round with an 85, Zach Swanteck (Troy/CBA) concluded his round with an 86 and Scott Zwinge (Altamont/Guilderland) and Kyle Young (Rotterdam/Mohonasen) each tallied an 88. Nathan Fankhanel (finished the day with a 111 through 18 holes.

Niagara Community College placed first with a total team score of 322 and Dan Lapp from Tompkins-Cortland was the individual winner with an overall score of 75.

The Vikings are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, April 15 as they travel to participate in the Tompkins-Cortland Invitational at the Elm Tree Golf Course.
