Bowling Placed 13th at Nationals

The Hudson Valley Community College bowling program closed out the 2023-24 season after they placed 13th overall at the 2024 NJCAA Bowling National Championships at the Royal Scot Golf and Bowl in Lansing, MI.

The Vikings accumulated a final score of 11,629 pins and placed third among our fellow Region 3 rivals. SUNY Erie placed fourth overall with a team score of 12,505 and Mohawk Valley placed 11th overall with a team score of 11,760.

Matthew DiGiulio won the men's singles portion of the tournament behind a final singles score of 648. He defeated Christian Bauer from Rock Valley by 10 pins to claim the title. In the three games bowled, DiGiulio bowled a 245, 247 and a 156, respectively. DiGuilio was also the Vikings top scorer in the championship's all-event standings as he placed 23rd overall with a score of 2,135 over the course of the 12 games bowled.

In the doubles portion, the Vikings top duo was Aaron Wilcox and Aidan McCarthy, who placed 22nd overall with a team total of 1,079. Wilcox led the way with a 212 in the opening game. Wilcox finished the doubles portion with a 545 total. McCarthy finished with a 546 after bowling consistently scores of 184, 164, and 198.

The 2023-24 season was highlighted by the program's 25th Mountain Valley Conference championship and a third-place finish at the Region 3 championships. The program did not qualify for the ITS Sectionals and the season comes to an end with the conclusion of this weekend's NJCAA Championships.
