Bowling Placed Third at Regionals; Goldston Wins All-Events

The Hudson Valley Community College bowling program placed third at the 2024 NJCAA Region 3 championships on Saturday afternoon at the Kingpin Bowling Center in Rome, NY.

The Vikings accumulated 9,367 pins and finished behind SUNY Erie, who won its third straight Region 3 title with a final score of 9,904. Herkimer finished second in the standings with a score of 9,694.

Hudson Valley's Daniel Goldston won the All-Events title after finishing the day with a final score of 1,839. Goldston became the eighth Vikings bowler to win the Region 3 All-Events title since 1968 and the first since Mike Hartmann took home the honor in 2013. Sean Howlan and Aidan McCarthy placed 13th and 14th in the All-Event standings with 1,670 and 1,664 points, respectively. 

The Vikings performed very well in the doubles portion of the championships. The duo of McCarthy and Howlan played well together and finished runner-up with a combined total of 1,825. Matthew DiGuilio and Daniel Goldston placed third overall with a total of 1,773. They finished placed behind Mohawk Valley's top team of Zach Doing and Bryce Bechtel.

In the Singles portion of the championship, Goldston placed third overall with a final pin tally of 879. McCarthy placed 14th overall with an 814-pin total.

Next on the schedule is the 2024 NJCAA Bowling National Championships on Thursday, February 29th through Saturday, March 2nd at the Royal Scot Golf and Bowl in Lansing, Michigan.
