Bowling Tied for First at FMCC Match

The Hudson Valley Community College bowling program had a great performance in the first conference match of the year, finishing the day with a 7-1 record over the course of two matches on Wednesday afternoon in Johnstown, NY.

The Vikings finished the first set of games with a total score of 2,954, finishing with a 3-1 record. In the second set of games, HVCC was more dominant, scoring 3,218 and finished with a 4-0 record. In total, the bowling program finished the day with a two-match score of 6,172.

In the first set, Aidan McCarthy shot a high of 697 (256,267,174) and was very consistent the first three games with excellent spare shooting and consistency with speed. In the second set, he dropped off and struggled a little, shooting a 527(191,174,162). 

Returner Sean Howlan had the next high series for a total of 607 (179,216,212). During the second set, he had eight strikes in a row and shot a 268 for a clean game. He closed out the triple with a 674 after shooting 208 in the second game and 198 in the final game of the set.

Matthew Diguilio started out slow with a 548 in the first set but in the second set, He produced a team-high 707 series (263,233,211). AJ Wilcox was consistent across the board with a 573 in the first set and 597 in the second.

Taylor Masterson had a high game of 182 and high series of 521 in her first conference match of her career. Abby DeSiato also bowled well as she had a high game of 183 and a high series of 469. Nick Glastetter posted a high game of 212 with high series of 604, which came during a clutch moment of the match, which helped HVCC finish the day strong.

The bowling program is back in action on Saturday, January 20 when they participate in the SUNY Westchester Walter J. Hauck Memorial Classic. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. at the Carmel Lanes in Carmel, NY.
