Bowling Placed Third at Viking Classic

The Hudson Valley Community College bowling program started the 2024 season with a quality run at the SUNY Westchester Viking Classic at Carmel Lanes on Saturday afternoon in Carmel, NY.

As a team, the Vikings tallied 6,461 pins and placed third overall, placing behind Nassau and Suffolk, two quality NJCAA programs.

The doubles pairing of Matthew DiGiulio and Sean Howlan placed third in the series as Diguilio bowled a 612 series and Sean Howlan bowled a 615 series, totaling a 1,227 total for a combined six games. Other doubles pairings not far behind the leaders were Brandon Barlow and Aidan McCarthy, who combined to score a 1,209 in their six games.

Abigail Desiato, who had not bowled for nearly three years, came out of the gate ready to roll as she scored a 956 in her six games. Taylor Masterson also had a great day on the lanes and finished her six-game series of 1035, which included a high game of 212

Returner Aaron Wilcox had a great last game with 211 which featured five consecutive strikes to end the game. Freshman Nick Glastetter also had a great day on the lanes with a high game of 214.

Up next for the bowling program is the Mountain Valley Conference opener, which is hosted by Fulton-Montgomery in Johnstown, NY. The match is scheduled for Wednesday, January 17th at 1 p.m.
