The Hudson Valley Community College bowling program placed third overall at the Westchester Shootout in Fishkill, NY on Saturday afternoon. As a team, the Vikings tallied 5,535 pins and placed behind SUNY Binghamton and Suffolk.

"Not our best day on the lanes, but we learned that sports shots are tough and spares are very important and games aren't just about strikes," said head coach Catie Bell. "We learned a lot today and we will take this into our match tomorrow."

The Vikings did manage to have two individuals earn medals as they finished inside the top-6 in the All-Events standings. Parker Brown placed fourth overall with 1,168 pins and Willis Bickford placed sixth overall with a score of 1,104.

Brown had a strong showing in the singles portion of the meet as he placed fourth with a tally of 618 pins and Bickford was not too far behind as he placed sixth with 589 pins. Brown and Bickford also finished as the Vikings top-duo as they bowled the doubles portion of the meet together and scored an additional 1,065 pins and placed second in the doubles portion of the meet.

The bowling team is back in action tomorrow as they compete in the Westchester Classic. The meet begins at 9:30 a.m. at the Spins Bowl Lanes in Carmel, NY.
