The Hudson Valley Community College bowling team kicked off the 2023 season with a bang as they won the 2023 Hawk Invitational in Utica, NY on Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings were paced by returners Willis Bickford and Parker Brown. Bickford placed second overall with a score of 1,193 and Brown placed third overall with a pin total of 1,173. As a team, the Vikings took the match title with an accumulated score of 6,538, 217 pins ahead of second place Fulton-Montgomery.

If the scores are an early indication on how the bowling team will perform during the conference season, the Vikings will be a top contender as they look to claim their first conference title since 2020.

Joseph Minehan placed sixth overall with a score of 1,140. Sean Howlan finished just outside of the top-10 and placed 12th overall with a final pin score of 1,036. AJ Wilcox and Isabella Guyer rounds out the team scoring as Wilcox tallied 1,007 pins and Guyer added 909. Alexa Schillinger finished with 686 points as the Vikings extra player during the match.

The bowling team returns to the lanes on Wednesday, January 18 when they travel to Johnstown, NY to compete in the Fulton-Montgomery conference match.
