The men's bowling team won the NJCAA Region 3 Championship for the first time since 2012 after edging out Erie to claim the program's eighth regional championship on Saturday afternoon in Utica, NY. 

The Region 3 Championship was divided into four double matches and concluded with four single matches, which led to the final all-events score. The men placed first after tallying a final score of 8,694 pins. Led by Codi Genthner, who posted the Vikings high-game score of 286 in the third singles match of the day. Genthner finished with an all-events score of 1,571. 

The women's program placed fifth with a total all-events score of 5,626. The women's team was led by Jordan Thomas, who earned the Vikings high-game score of 200 in the final singles match of the tournament. Thomas finished the all-events portion with a final score of 1,370.

Haley Salvagione finished second among her Vikings teammates and posted an all-events score of 1,283. Salvagione's individual game-high came in the final singles match of the day as she posted a score of 187. 

The men's and women's bowling teams will now prepare for the NJCAA National Tournament on Thursday, March 5-7, which is hosted by Erie Community College.
