The men's and women's bowling programs competed in the Mohawk Valley Invitational on Sunday morning in Utica, NY and came home with some individual and team hardware.

The men's bowling team won the team championship and were led by freshman Jason Macey (Lansingburg / LaSalle Institute), who placed fourth in the overall standings. Macey continued his hot bowling as he placed third in the 2nd three-game block and posted a final score of 1,216. As a team, the Vikings claimed the title with a total score of 5,846.

Jordan Thomas (Lake Katrine / Kingston) also continued her outstanding bowling with a high second block as she went on to claim individual championship as the overall high score of the tournament. Thomas finished with pin total of 1,166.

Haley Salvagione (Valatie / Ichabod Crane) and Gianna Weiss (East Greenbush / Columbia) each finished inside the top-6 of the tournament. Salvagione finished fourth overall and posted a total score of 1,025. Weiss followed up a nice day on Saturday with a sixth-place finish at the Mohawk Valley Invitational. Weiss recorded a total score of 998.

A highlight of the weekend was when sophomore Anthony Hurlburt (Hoosick Falls / Hoosick Falls) hit an impossible 5-7-10 split to save a spare.

The Vikings are off to a strong start and will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 when they travel to Schenectady to participate in the Schenectady Conference Match, beginning at 1 p.m.
