The Hudson Valley Community College men's bowling team participated in and won the Blue and Orange Classic, hosted by Westchester County Community College on Saturday afternoon in Wappingers Falls.

As a team, the Vikings cleared 6,500 total pins in the six-team tournament. Hudson Valley scored 2,760 pins in their doubles games and added 2,821 pins during their single series matches to beat out Erie by 27 pins. The Vikings also scored 919 pins in five baker games.

All eight of the Vikings' student-athletes finished inside the top-20 of the tournament with Spencer McClellan (Troy/Lansingburgh) leading the way with a high-game of 246 and a series-high of 589, the fifth best series-high in the tournament. McClellan finished strong as his high-game came in the third and final game. He scored 177 and 166 in the first two games, respectively.

David Shaw (Amsterdam/Amsterdam) placed ninth in the overall standings after he posted a series-high score of 538. Shaw's game-high was a 201 in his second singles game. Garrett Bartlett (Brunswick/Tamarac) also posted a game-high over 200 as he finished his opening match with a 209. Bartlett finished with a series-high of 531.

Donald Baker (Ravena/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) finished right behind Bartlett with a 529 series-high and a game-high of 190. Joshua McCart (Hoosick Falls/Hoosick Falls) rolled a 522 series-high with a game-high of 180.

Rounding out the remaining Vikings team, Nathan Laustrup (Troy/Lansingburgh) scored a 520 series-high with a 189 game-high. Dominick Ippolito (Waterford/Waterford-Halfmoon) and Austin Knight (Cohoes/Cohoes) each finished with a series-high of 499. Ippolito posted a game-high of 191 and Knight's game-high was 181.

The men's bowling team is back on the road this Sunday, Jan. 21 as they participate in the Hawk Invitational, hosted by Mohawk Valley.
