Three members of Hudson Valley Community College's 2000-01 bowling teams were recently honored with post-season accolades. Melissa Blair (Columbia), Bill Brouilette (Colonie) and Nicole Nault (Lansingburgh) all earned All-Star status. Head coach Joe Prest also was singled out; the 44-year-old Lansingburgh High School graduate was inducted into the National Junior College Coaches Hall of Fame on March 9.
Blair was named to a First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference and First Team All-American performer. A freshman, she posted a 192 average in 2000-01, second highest among female bowlers in the Mountain Valley Conference. She also placed second in the All-Events and doubles competition at the NJCAA championships.
Brouilette, a sophomore, earned First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference and All-Region III status. He recorded the highest triple in the Mountain Valley Conference this past season, rolling a 724 for three games. His 217 average was the second highest in the conference. Brouilette placed third in the All-Events competition at the Region III championships and was third in the doubles competition at the Region III championships.
Nault, who last year captured the NJCAA doubles title along with former teammate Linda Follett (Colonie), earned First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference status. Nault, a sophomore, averaged 172, fifth-best in the conference, and placed fourth in the doubles competition at the NJCAA Region III championships.
Prest has coached Hudson Valley for 13 years. He currently owns a 223 average and has bowled several 299 games, as well as a 781 triple. Prest has coached six Hudson Valley men's teams to regional crowns. He led the women to the national title in 1995.
