The Hudson Valley men's basketball team defeated North Country by one in the final seconds of tonight's game.
HVCC Player of the Game, James Blake scored the game-tying and game-winning free throws with just 4 seconds left on the clock. Blake had a total of 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals on his senior night. Keyaton Parks also had 17 points for the Vikings. Parks also tallied 16 rebounds and 2 blocks. Jai Clayton came off the bench scoring 8 points and also adding 2 rebouns, an assist, and a steal. The Vikings went back and forth sharing the lead throughout the whole game with the Saints. After the Saints closed the gap and took the lead the Vikings were scrambling to get the ball back. After a missed shot in the final seconds of teh shot clock the Vikings raced down the court with 22 seconds left. James Blake got the ball and while trying to dribble across the foul line he was tackled by North Country. North Country was in double bonus and put Blake on the line. A huge mistake as Blake sunk the first shot to tie the game and the second to win the game as well. With just 4 seconds left the Saints tried everything but in the end the Vikings came out on top.
The Vikings hit the road tomorrow as they face Mohawk Valley. Their game will be at 7:30pm following the women's game at 5:30pm.
