Men's Basketball defeats Clinton on Senior Night

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball program celebrated senior night with a 65-51 win while honoring its seven graduating players before the start of their critical Region 3 matchup with Clinton on Tuesday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.

The Vikings and the Cougars battled in the first half, exchanging buckets with Hudson Valley claiming a four-point lead at the halftime break. Leading the way for Hudson Valley in the first half was James Blake II. Blake played all 20 minutes and finished with 13 points on 6-of-12 shooting. Keyaton Parks continued to play big in the paint with 10 first half rebounds with seven points on a perfect 3-of-3 from the field.

In the second half, Hudson Valley increased its defensive intensity and pushed its advantage to a 12-point lead with 5:14 remaining in the game. Hudson Valley continued to play well, shooting 42-percent from the floor on 26-of-62 shooting and secured the crucial Region 3 win as they are poised to earn a berth to the 2024 NJCAA Region 3 postseason next week.

Blake went on to finish with a game-high 17 points and Parks finished with 15 points and 18 rebounds for another dynamic double-double this season.

The NJCAA Region3 men's basketball seeds will be released on Thursday, February 22, and the Vikings hope to claim one of the top-12 postseason berths which will place them on the road in the opening round on Tuesday, February 27th.
