The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball program are playing its best basketball of the season as they won its fourth consecutive game after they defeated Jefferson 82-72 on Saturday afternoon at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.

In the opening half of the game, the Vikings jumped out to a quick start, leading by as many as 17 points on the Cannoneers. The Vikings finished the first half shooting 16-of-37 (42%) from the floor and tallied 15 points off of 14 Jefferson turnovers.  Hudson Valley was led by Keyaton Parks, who scored 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting, including 6-of-6 from the free throw line and the Vikings took a 39-26 advantage into the halftime break.

In the second half, Jefferson made a run, trying to cut into the deficit, but the Vikings were able to hold off the Cannoneers by limiting their scoring droughts and ended up winning the second half to secure their fourth straight win as they enter the final stretch of the 2024 season.

Despite running into foul trouble throughout the game, Parks finished the game with another double-double, scoring a team-high 17 points with 15 rebounds. Bo Catherwood shot the ball very well, shooting 6-of-11 from the floor, including a pair of three-point field goals for 15 points and Brandon Gordon tallied 17 points on 4-of-9 shooting and 8-of-11 from the free throw line. James Blake II added 14 points with nine rebounds and a team-high five assists.

The men's basketball program returns to the court tomorrow, Sunday, February 4th as they host No. 6 Onondaga at 3 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex in the campus of HVCC.
