The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team earned a tough Region 3 win 86-81 over Columbia-Greene on Wednesday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.

Hudson Valley had three individuals finish with at least 15 points as they were led by Brandon Gordon, who tallied a game-high 27 points with seven rebounds and two assists. James Blake II played all 40 minutes of the game and finished with 21 points on 6-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-7 from behind the three-point arc.

The Vikings trailing 76-74, Blake responded with a three-point field goal to put Hudson Valley back on top by one. A Twins turnover immediately followed and Blake advanced the ball up court to find a streaking Bo Catherwood on the leftside for the basket and a foul. Catherwood converted on the free throw and the Vikings took an 80-76 advantage with 2:52 remaining in the game.

With 1:12 remaining in the game, the Vikings held on to a one-point lead with Columbia-Greene attacking the basket, which led to a missed three-point field goal attempt, rebounded by the Vikings. Keyaton Parks was fouled on the next possession and connected on both free throws to extend the Vikings lead. Parks finished the game with 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting and a game-high 23 rebounds. The men's team held on as they converted their late game free throws to secure the 86-81 victory.

The men's program returns to the court this Saturday, February 3 as they host Jefferson at 3 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex. The game will be streamed live via www.hvccathletics.com/WATCH.
