Men's Basketball Earns Road Win at Finger Lakes

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball program completed a successful weekend after sweeping its two-game road trip as they defeated Finger Lakes 74-62 on Sunday afternoon in Canandaigua, NY.

The Vikings took advantages of a strong start as they outscored the hometown Lakers 36-19 in the opening half of the game. The Vikings managed to hold on to a double-digit victory with a consistent second half, keeping the Lakers at bay, despite being outscored 43-38 after halftime.

Leading the way for the Vikings was Keyaton Parks, who had a monster game with 21 points and 22 rebounds. Parks went 8-of-15 from the floor and added five free throws to go with a pair of defensive blocks.

Brandon Gordon went a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line and finished with 12 points on 2-of-12 shooting. Gordon also collected seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks. James Blake II was the third Vikings member to reach double-digit scoring as he accumulated 10 points on 3-of-9 shooting with five rebounds and three assists.

The Vikings are back home for a three-game homestand, which begins on Wednesday, January 31 when they host Columbia-Greene at 5 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.
