The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team couldn't overcome a first half deficit as they were defeated 91-81 by SUNY Broome on Saturday afternoon at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.

The Vikings were led by James Blake II, who finished with a team-best 20 points and added five rebounds and one assist. Kayaton Parks continued to play well in the post as he scored 16 points on 7of-9 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds.

Bo Catherwood and Daniel McMahon combined to score 28 points off the bench for Hudson Valley. Both individuals accumulated 14 points. McMahon shot 6-of-8 from the floor and added four rebounds. Catherwood shot 3-of-11 and went 8-of-9 from the free throw line.

SUNY Broome shot 50 percent from the floor, compared to 39 percent for Hudson Valley, which proved to be the difference in the final results. Hudson Valley also help a 20-11 offensive rebound advantage, but they couldn't finish several second chance opportunities.
