Men's Basketball Rally Falls Short at No. 12 Genesee

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team had its late game rally fall short as they were defeated 87-82 by No. 12 Genesee on Sunday afternoon in Batavia, NY.

The Vikings played well but fell behind in the first half, trailing 46-34 at the halftime break. In the first half, the Vikings were led by Owen Feagles, who has put together a nice weekend, scoring double-figures in back-to-back games. Feagles tallied 10 points in the first half with five rebounds and one steal.

In the second half, the Vikings offense caught fire, scoring 48 points, but fell short and couldn't overcome the 12-point deficit.  James Blake II, Brandon Gordon and Bo Catherwood all scored double-digits in the second half to pace the Vikings offense.The trio all finished the game tied with a team-high 17 points.

Gordon tallied a double-double, adding 11 rebounds to his 17 points. He shot 6-of-15 from the floor in 31 minutes of action. Catherwood shot 5-of-11 and 3-of-6 from behind the three-point arc in 31 minutes of action and added four rebounds, one assist and two steals.

The men's basketball programs enters its final game of the fall semester this Tuesday, Dec. 12 as they travel to take on SUNY Rockland in Suffern, NY at 7 p.m.
