Men's Basketball Earns First Win; Defeats Adirondack

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball program earned its first win of the season after they defeated SUNY Adirondack 66-58 at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC on Tuesday evening.

As a team, the Vikings shot 36.4 percent from the floor, shooting 24-of-66 and added 15-of-27 from the free throw line. Hudson Valley did struggle with turnovers, as they finished with 22, compared to 14 turnovers by the Timberwolves.

Leading the way offensive attack for Hudson Valley was Brandon Gordon and Korey Hawkins, who combined to score 33 points and 17 rebounds. Gordon finished with a team-high 17 points with eight rebounds in 28 minutes of action.

Korey Hawkins shot 10-of-13 from the free throw line as he finished the game with 16 points on 3-of-8 shooting in 37 minutes of game action. James Blake II earned a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds on 4-of-17 from the floor in 38 minutes.

Up next for the men's basketball program is a string of road games throughout the month of December. The four-game road trip begins on Wednesday, Dec. 6 when they travel to take on Herkimer at 7 p.m. in Herkimer, NY.
