Men's Basketball defeated by Orange

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball program dropped a home match 89-71 to No. 13 ranked SUNY Orange, an NJCAA Division II program, on Thursday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.

The Vikings fell behind early but clawed their way back into the game as they ended the first half on an 11-2 run to pull within two points, trailing the nationally-ranked Orange 40-38. Leading the way for the Vikings in the first half was James Blake II, who finished with 12 points in 18 minutes on 3-of-7 shooting and 6-of-7 from the free throw line. Blake finished the game with a team-high 19 points and added five rebounds and three assists.

In the second half, the No. 13 Orange pulled away, outscoring Hudson Valley 49-33 in the final 20 minutes of the game to push the Vikings record to 0-3 on the year. 

Up next for the men's basketball program is a critical Region 3 home matchup against No. 6 Mohawk Valley this Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of HVCC.
