Men's Basketball Wins; Green Scores 28 over Broome

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball improved to 16-8 after defeating SUNY Broome 98-68 in the McDonough Sports Complex in Troy, NY on Friday evening.

The Vikings got off to a slower start but recovered quickly as they earned the decisive Region 3 win over the Hornets. After a 5-5 tie four minutes into the game, the Vikings initiated an 11-3 run and later another 11-0 run in the first half to pull away and entered the halftime break leading 49-29.

Hudson Valley shot 51.4% from the floor on 38-of-74 shooting, including 9-of-22 from behind the three-point arc. Leading the way for the Vikings was Trevor Green, who finished with a game-high 28 points and added eight rebounds and six assists.

Willem Feeney, Bo Catherwood and Charles Bianchino took advantage of the extra minutes they received in the second half as they all scored in double-figures. Feeney finished with a career-high 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting in 21 minutes. Catherwood also finished with a career-high 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting with two rebounds and two steals.

The Vikings return to action on Monday, Feb. 13 for the 2023 regular season finale as they travel to take on Fulton-Montgomery in Johnstown, NY at 7 p.m.
