The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball dropped its first game against an NJCAA top-10 program (5-1) this season after they were defeated 91-56 at No. 6 ranked Mohawk Valley in Utica, NY on Wednesday evening.

The Vikings fell behind early as the Hawks posted 43 points in the first half, while Hudson Valley's offense stalled by only scoring 23 first half points. The big first half deficit against a top-ranked program, like Mohawk Valley, is an impossible feat to overcome.

The Hawks continued to shoot the ball well in the second half and secured the 91-56 win to earn a series split on the season, as the Vikings took the first game from the Hawks in November.

Leading the way for the Vikings offensively was Jourdan Belcher, who finished with 16 points (12 first half points) and Trevor Green added 10 points.

The Vikings return to the court this Friday, Feb. 10 as they welcome SUNY Broome to the McDonough Sports Complex at 4 p.m. on the campus of HVCC.
