Hudson Valley Community College's men's basketball team completed the season sweep over Region 3 rivals, No. 11 ranked Herkimer, for the first time since the 2008-09 season and improved to 5-0 against NJCAA Top-10 programs after defeating the Generals 70-61 in Herkimer, NY on Saturday afternoon.

The No. 15 ranked Vikings were led by sophomore Trevor Green (Troy/Lansingburgh), who continues to play his best basketball of the season, finished with a game-high 32 points. Hudson Valley jumped on the nationally-ranked Generals in the first-half of the game, taking a 39-28 advantage at the break. Green did most of his work in the first 20-minutes of the game, scoring 22 of his 32 points, including six three-point field goals. Green played the majority of the game and did not commit a defensive foul.

Demani Benjamin (Albany/Green Tech) also had a big game for Hudson Valley, scoring 18 points on seven field goals, including four baskets from beyond the three-point arc. As a team, the Vikings connected on 11 three-point field goals.

Jourdan Belcher (Elmsford / Alexander Hamilton), who played a huge role in the Vikings first upset win over the Generals on January 5, was held to nine points and was hit with some foul trouble throughout the game. Belcher's teammates picked him up and earned the team victory.

The schedule doesn't get any easier for the No. 11 Vikings as they are back in action tomorrow, Sunday, January 22 as they welcome SUNY Adirondack. Adirondack knocked off the Vikings 93-86 in Queensbury on Nov. 29 when the Vikings were on a four-game win streak. Sunday's home game kicks off the Vikings final four-game homestand of the season before they become February road warriors (5 road games/0 home games) to close out the regular season.
