No. 15 Men's Basketball Gets Back on Track with Win

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team snapped its two-game losing streak as they defeated Clinton 96-81 at the McDonough Sports Complex at HVCC on Wednesday evening.

As a team, the No. 15 ranked Vikings shot 55 percent from the floor and dominated the paint, outscoring Clinton 54-30 to secure their ninth win of the season and improved to 8-3 against Region 3 opponents. The Vikings led the entire way and by as many as 26 points with 6:24 remaining in the game. Leading the way for Hudson Valley was Jourdan Belcher, finished with a game-high 26 points on 13-of-18 shooting and eight rebounds in 27 minutes of action.

Trevor Green continued to fill the stat-sheet as he finished with 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Green shot 6-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from behind the arc. Willem Feeney and Mekhi Petteway had big games for the Vikings off the bench. Petteway finished with 10 points and nine rebounds in 18 minutes of action and Feeney found his mid-range fade-away jumper, which was hard for the Cougars to defend. Feeney scored 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting in 14 minutes.

The Vikings had five individuals reach double-digit scoring, as Demani Benjamin scored six baskets for 12 points and was instrumental in running the Vikings offense all game. Benjamin finished with a game-high seven assists in 29 minutes.

The men's basketball is back in action on Saturday, January 21 when they travel to take on the Region's top-ranked program, Herkimer. In the previous meeting, the Vikings upset the No. 2 ranked Generals at home and they look to continue their quality play against the tough Generals program. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 3 p.m. in Herkimer, NY.
