The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team dropped its second consecutive game this week as they fell on the road against Tompkins Cortland 80-65 in Dryden, NY on Sunday afternoon.

The first half of the game featured a lot of back-and-forth buckets as each team shot around 34 percent from the floor and entered the halftime break tied at 33-33. Trevor Green and Demani Benjamin paced the Vikings early as they both scored 12 points and 10 points, respectively, in the opening half of the game.

In the second half, the Panthers outscored the Vikings 47-32 and held the Vikings to 26 percent shooting from the floor. Hudson Valley also struggled at the line in the second half, shooting 11-of-19 from the stripe. The Panthers shot 17-of-35 from the floor in the second half to pull away and earn the 15-point win over the No. 6 ranked Vikings.

Overall, Green finished with a game-high 26 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals and Jourdan Belcher added 13 points and seven boards. Josh Kiefer scored a career-high 10 points on 3-of-8 shooting, including 2-of-6 from behind the three-point arc.

The men's basketball program returns to the court on Wednesday, January 18 when they host Clinton at 4:30 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex at HVCC. The game will be streamed live at hvccathletics.com/watch.
