Jourdan Belcher Named National Player of the Week

The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball forward, Jourdan Belcher (Elmsford/Alexander Hamilton) was named NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week following a dominant performance in the Vikings upset victory over No. 2 Herkimer last week.

Belcher had a massive game as he led the No. 10 nationally ranked Vikings to a 78-68 win over the Generals as he finished with a game-high 34 points and team high 11 rebounds to post a double-double. Belcher was also named the NJCAA Region 3 Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday. 

The men's basketball team recently moved up four spots and are ranked sixth in the latest NJCAA Division III Men's Basketball poll. The men's program improved to 4-0 against NJCAA Top-10 programs this season (Mohawk Valley, Corning, Genesee, Herkimer).

The men's program returns to the court on Saturday as they travel to take on SUNY Broome at 3 p.m. in Binghamton, NY. They will also take on Tompkins Cortland in Dryden, NY on Sunday at 1 p.m. as they continue to fight for a top seed in the Region 3 standings.
