The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team has been on an historic run, and they continued its unbeaten streak again NJCAA Top-10 programs this season after defeated No. 2 ranked Herkimer Generals 78-68 on Thursday afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex Thursday afternoon.
Hudson Valley's Jourdan Belcher finished with a career-high 34 points as they Vikings improved to 8-3 on the year and 4-0 against NJCAA Top-10 programs. The game was filled with action as both teams traded buckets for the majority of the game until the Vikings pulled away with under two minutes remaining to kickoff 2023 with a win. Belcher posted 18 points in the first half and 16 in the second half as he dominated the paint all game.
Trevor Green also had a big game against the Generals as he finished the game with 17 points with five field goals and 9-of-10 from the free throw line (6-of-6 in the second half). Demani Benjamin finished in double-digit scoring with 11 points on five field goals and six points in the second half.
The Vikings have now won four straight games and eight wins in their last nine games and are ranked No. 10 in the latest NJCAA rankings poll. They return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 10 when they travel to take on Massasoit at 7 p.m. in Brockton, Mass.
