The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team earned its first win of the 2022-23 season as they defeated Columbia-Greene 94-52 in the McDonough Sports Complex at HVCC on Thursday.

Unlike their first two games, the Vikings jumped out to a big lead in the opening half of the game to lead 25-11 after the first 10 minutes of the game. Hudson Valley utilized a full court press early in the game to help speed up the pace of the game and the increased tempo created more turnovers by the Twins, resulting in the Vikings scoring 33 points off turnovers and 48 fast break points.

Leading the charge for the Vikings was Trevor Green, who finished the game with 21 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and four steals in only 22 minutes of action. Zhaji Williams played limited minutes, 14, but scored 20 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 2-of-4 from behind the three-point arc.

Justin Van Ness finished with 11 points and Kobi Wallace added 10 points to round out the Vikings double-digit scorers on the night.

The Vikings are back home this Saturday, November 12 as they host nationally-ranked Mohawk Valley at 3 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex. The game will be live streamed at www.hvccathletics.com/watch.
