The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball team fell behind early and could not overcome the large deficit, despite a late game run, and were defeated 97-88 at the McDonough Sports Complex at HVCC on Tuesday evening.

The game was a tale of two halves as the Vikings struggled for the majority of the first half and entered the halftime break trailing by 20 points, 54-34. Fulton-Montgomery connected on nine three-point field goals in the first half, which helped push them to the early advantage.

In the second half, Hudson Valley improved their defensive intensity as well as their offensive field goal percentage, shooting 54 percent from the floor and 14-of-19 from the free throw line, which helped the Vikings pull within four points with 1:02 remaining in the game.

Leading the charge for the Vikings was Trevor Green, who shot 4-of-10 from the floor and 15-of-17 from the free-throw line to finish with a team-high 24 points and added eight rebounds and two assists. Kobi Wallace hit 10-of-12 field goals, including 2-of-2 from the free throw line for 22 points and 11 rebounds. Off the bench, the Vikings big man Justin Van Ness tallied 10 points (5-of-8) and four rebounds in 14 minutes of game action.

The Vikings are back in action on Thursday, November 10 when they host Columbia-Greene at the McDonough Sports Complex at 7 p.m. The game will be live streamed online at www.hvccathletics.com/WATCH.
