The Hudson Valley Community College men's basketball fell to a tough Genesee program 77-62 on Sunday afternoon at the McDonough Sports Complex in Troy, NY.

The Cougars came out of the gates shooting 50-percent from the floor, including 5-of-6 from the floor to put up 48 points on the Vikings and entered the halftime break leading 48-21. Leading the way for Hudson Valley in the opening half was Trevor Green, who went into halftime with six points on 2-of-10 shooting in 19 minutes of action. Green finished the game with 13 points and 5 rebounds.

In the second half, the Vikings went on a 17-4 run, but still trailed 52-33 at the first called timeout of the second half as Genesee looked to regroup and settle back into game action. Hudson Valley continued to cut into the Genesee lead, however, the 27-point halftime deficit proved to be too much for the Vikings to overcome.

Luke Bourgault finished with a game-high 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc. Bourgault finished his stat line with six rebounds, two steals and one assist.

The men's basketball team closes out the fall 2021 semester this Wednesday, December 8 when they welcome Tompkins Cortland to the McDonough Sports Complex at Hudson Valley Community College. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and can be viewed online at HVCCAthletics.com/watch.
