Men's Basketball Stifles Kingsborough with Defense

The Hudson Valley men's basketball team won their fourth straight game after defeating Kingsborough 101-56 on Sunday afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College. 

Much like the Vikings win over Schenectady on Saturday, the Vikings took a 44-27 lead into the halftime break, marking the third straight game Hudson Valley bolstered a 20-plus point lead into the break. The Vikings defense held strong throughout the entire game to hold the Wave under 60 points, marking the fourth game this season where the Vikings did not give up more than 60 points to an opponent. 

Leading the way for the Vikings was Ryan Long, who finished with a game-high 21 points on 8-for-14 shooting. Brandon McKenly had a strong game and finished with another double-double as he compiled 14 points and 10 rebounds. 

Sophomore Avery Deas posted a career-high 17 points and added nine rebounds in just 22 minutes of action. Jordan Lewis and Dominique Threatt combined to score 24 points with Lewis finishing the game with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Threatt tallied 14 points. 

As a team, the Vikings shot 51 percent from the floor and compiled 56 rebounds, 27 assists, 10 blocks and 18 steals. 

Hudson Valley is back home this Wednesday, Feb. 5 as they welcome Clinton to the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College at 7 p.m.  The game will be live streamed via the HVCCVikings YouTubeaccount.
