The Hudson Valley men's basketball team honored Coach Mike Long for his 500th career win prior to tonight's 76-61 victory over Dutchess on Wednesday evening at the McDonough Sports Complex.

The Vikings got off to a slow start and entered halftime trailing 31-30 to the Falcons.  In the second half, the Vikings started to relax and the ball started to fall through the hoop as they outscored Dutchess 46-30.

The Vikings were led by sophomore guard Will Aybar (Albany/Colonie), who finished the game with a team-high 15 points and was the catalyst to the strong second half start. Aybar scored 11 of his 15 points after the break, including a pair of three-point field goals.

Brandon McKenly (Brooklyn/ Leadership & Public Service) had another great game for Hudson Valley. He joined Aybar with 10 second half points, including a couple highlight dunks to boost the Vikings lead and the crowd. McKenly finished the game with 14 points.

Iziah Pigott (Brooklyn / Urban Assembly for Law & Justice) also recorded double-digit scoring for the Vikings as he finished with 13 points on five field goals, including one three-point basket from beyond the arc.

Next up for the Vikings is a back-to-back home stand against Finger Lakes on Saturday and Corning on Sunday. The games will be played at the same location where Coach Long began his coaching career in 1972, at Siena College (515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211). The games will be played at the Alumni Recreation Center on the campus of Siena College.
