Hudson Valley's men's basketball team (14-5) dropped a tough matchup at home to No. 2 Herkimer Generals (16-1) 102-79 on Saturday afternoon in the McDonough Sports Complex. 

The Vikings shot 46.4 percent from the floor but the Generals connected for nine three-point baskets and outscored Hudson Valley in second chance points, points off turnovers and fast break points. 

Hudson Valley and Herkimer have now split the season series after the Vikings defeated Herkimer 102-72 on November 10 in Central New York. 

O'nandi Brooks (Brooklyn/George Westinghouse) led the Vikings with 23 points and added seven rebounds, four blocks and one steal. Avery Deas (Rotterdam/Mohonasen) had his best day of the season as he finished the game with a career-high 14 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double. 

Caleb Canty (Hudson/Hudson) finished with 16 points and four rebounds in a game-high 37 minutes of game action. 

Herkimer had four starters finish with at least 11 points, including a team-high 21 points from guard Darius Hines. Derrick Felder added 18 points and Isaiah Stone and Teshaun Beckles added 12 points and 11 points, respectively. 

Hudson Valley is back home tomorrow, January 27 to play Broome at 3 p.m. in the McDonough Sports Complex in Troy, NY.
