Men's Basketball Holds Off Tompkins Cortland for Win

Hudson Valley's men's basketball team (10-2) jumped out to an early lead and fought off a late rally by Tompkins Cortland to defeat the Panthers 92-78 in McDonough Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.

Caleb Canty (Hudson/Hudson) had a monster game for the Vikings as he finished with a game-high 30 points. Canty connected on 12 field goals and shot 6-for-8 from the free throw line. He also provided the answer to the Panthers late game rally, as he continued to keep the Vikings comfortably ahead for the entire game. 

Josiah McCall (Beacon/Beacon) had a nice game with 18 points, which included four three-point field goals. McCall scored 10 of his 18 points in the first half, helping the Vikings enter halftime with a 53-37 advantage. 

O'nandi Brooks (Brooklyn/George Westinghouse) continued to play his best basketball of the season as he finished with 21 points with eight field goals made and 5-for-9 from the free throw line. Avery Deas (Rotterdam/Mohonasen) also reached double-digit scoring as he finished with 12 points. 

Hudson Valley back in action on Tuesday, December 11 as they travel to play Kingsborough at 8 p.m.
